Weight Room Project
The TD Club has put in more than $250,000 worth of weights and weight equipment into 49 Greater Houston high schools since 2002.
***When Worthing received weights in 2003, then-coach Eddie Snow was asked to speak at a TD Club luncheon about the gifts. Snow said that the workers arrived at lunchtime to deliver the weights, but that the football team had left their food on their plates, ran outside and grabbed the weights from the van. The players put the weights -- which were in school colors -- in the weight room and started working out. When Mike Singletary was at Worthing, he said some of their weights were buckets of rocks on poles. Snow said the weight program was better since Singletary graduated and played at Baylor. But not by much. "No one had ever done anything for Worthing before," Snow said.
***In 2004, Westbury received weights. Like with all schools given weights by the TD Club, the gift was for boys and girls. Later that school season, the girls' 4x100 relay set won the national title with the fastest time in the country. "They were helped by the TD Club's weights," said then-athletic director Joe Tusa.

2010: Alief Hastings and Jeff Davis (now Northside HS)
2011: Alief Elsik, Reagan (again, now Heights) and Bellaire
2012: Humble, Houston Lee (now Wisdom HS) and Madison (again)
2013: Hightower (again), La Marque and Lutheran North
2014: Westbury Christian
2015: Aldine (again), Madison (again) and Scarborough (again)
2016: St. John XXIII, Northbrook (again) and Sam Houston (again)
2017: Heights (again), Lutheran South, North Forest (again) and KIPP-Sunnyside
2018: C.E. King, Frassati Catholic and Terry
2019: Houston Austin (again) and Lamar Consolidated
2020: Cristo Rey Jesuit, Galveston Ball, North Forest (again, formerly Forest Brook and Smiley), Northside (formerly Jeff Davis), Waltrip (again), Wheatley (again), Willowridge (again), Worthing (again); 2020 was underwritten by a grant from the Houston Texans and Reliant Energy.
